McCarthy Gives Donald Trump A Massive Shoutout After Winning Speaker’s Gavel

(Patriot Insider) – The road to the gavel was not easy for now-Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy. After he finally won the lower chamber’s head seat on Saturday, he quickly expressed his gratitude specifically to one of the men who made it all possible and it surely set Democrats and their media allies off.

“A lot of people worked really hard to put this together,” McCarthy said at a Capitol news conference early Saturday. “All the different members, hanging with me through all those different votes.”

“But I do want to especially thank President Trump,” McCarthy stated. “I don’t think anybody should doubt his influence. He was with me from the beginning …”

“He would call me, and he would call others.”

“What he’s really saying, really, for the party and the country … We have to come together. We have to focus on the economy. We got to focus to make our border secure.

“We’ve got to do so much work to do. And he was a great influence to make that all happen, so, thank you, President Trump.”

President Trump responded by sharing the video of McCarthy thanking him on his social media platform Truth Social, and wrote, “Thank you Kevin. It was my great honor!”

Conservative and McCarthy supporter Rep. Jim Jordan also gave Trump credit for McCarthy securing the speakership role.

“This doesn’t get done without the support and leadership of President Trump,” he told Breitbart News.

Trump publicly stumped for McCarthy last Wednesday in a post in which he called on Republicans to “close the deal” and elect McCarthy as House Speaker.

Trump’s urging didn’t immediately make the holdouts come around. There were numerous subsequent rounds of balloting but Trump was also working behind the scenes to make it all come together for McCarthy.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene told Breitbart that Trump had ensured support for McCarthy with the bloc of House Republicans who supported him from the beginning and also worked the phones to convince enough of the holdouts to eventually vote “present” instead of nominating other individuals by name. By voting “present” it reduced the total number of votes needed by McCarthy to get a majority of the votes.

The lock-step Democrats united behind Rep. Hakeem Jefferies of New York in every single vote and the final ballot ended with a vote of 216 for McCarthy and 212 for Jefferies.

Democrats and their media sycophants have been trying to convince America that Trump is no longer an influence in the Republican Party or politics in general but Kevin McCarthy just shattered that narrative, proving Trump is still the man on top and a force to be reckoned with.

Any potential challengers for the GOP presidential nomination had better take note.
