Trump Or DeSantis? Look Who Wins CPAC’s Presidential Straw Poll

(Patriot Insider) – If President Trump is planning to attempt a comeback in 2024, it appears he most certainly has the support to do so. The former president won the 2024 GOP presidential nomination straw poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) this weekend, which took place in Orlando, Florida.

Though Trump has yet to make an official announcement of his intention to run for the presidency in 2024, he’s dropped plenty of hints that he plans to. Trump captured 59% of the votes cast in the anonymous online straw poll, as per the results announced at CPAC Sunday afternoon.

Trump remains the most influential and popular politician among the GOP and has continued to influence the direction of the party by playing kingmaker since Biden usurped the White House in 2020.

Last year during Orlando’s CPAC straw poll Trump won 55% of the vote, and at the straw poll conducted last July at CPAC in Dallas, he won 70%. It’s clear Trump is not slipping in popularity.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has routinely placed second to Trump, albeit a distant second. This year he received 28% of the vote which is an increase from the 21% he received in both CPAC straw polls from last year. No one else among the 19 names listed on the ballot even broke 2%.

A Trump/DeSantis ticket just might be a force to be reckoned with come 2024.

Of course, it should be no surprise that President Trump would fare well in CPAC’s unscientific survey as it is the largest and most influential gathering of America First conservatives. The events have essentially turned into “Trump-fest,” as noted by Fox News, since 2016 when he first won the presidency.

Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich pointed out on Twitter that the former president “continues to grow the conservative MAGA movement, which includes growing his political dominance.”

DeSantis has soared in popularity since 2020 when the COVID charade began as he established himself as a staunch defender of freedom and personal liberty in America. Florida was consistently one of the least locked down states in the US and Americans love DeSantis for it.

DeSantis easily dominated a second question in the CPAC survey, which did not include Trump on the ballot. The Governor got 61% on that question with two-thirds of Trump supporters from the first question giving their support to him.

A distant second was former CIA director and former Secretary of State under President Trump, Mike Pompeo, who received 6.3%, the former president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. received 5.9%, while Senators Ted Cruz (TX) and Rand Paul (KY) each grabbed 3.3% support.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem raked in 3.1%, while former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley took 2.1%. No other candidate listed in the second question without Trump on the ballot broke 2%.

According to CPAC, around 2,500 participants voted in the straw poll.

It’s clear that the American people still support Trump. The Biden regime is totally destroying the US and the only person who might be able to fix it, is President Trump.
