RINO Liz Cheney Crushed In Latest Poll, Trump-Backed Challenger Gets 10 Times More Votes

(Patriot Insider) – While the mainstream media loves GOP Rep. Liz Cheney the sentiment back in her home state of Wyoming isn’t quite as warm. As a matter of fact, according to the latest polling, she doesn’t have a chance at re-election.

According to the Casper Star-Tribune, a straw poll was taken on Saturday by the Wyoming Republican State Central Committee among state GOP activists. It revealed that Cheney is looking at a major defeat come November. Of those polled, 59 voted for Cheney’s top GOP challenger in this year’s primary, Harriet Hageman, while only 6 voted for Cheney to retain her position.

Ouch. That’s not even remotely close.

While the poll is certainly a good sign, it should be noted that it isn’t always representative of the general population’s voting preferences since it only reflects the opinions of the individuals who make up the state central committee.

The committee is composed of 74 individuals (71 of which were polled for this survey) which consists of 3 representatives from each of Wyoming’s counties along with members of the state party.

The results of polls like this can be deceiving. For example, a 2020 straw poll found that Sen. Cynthia Lumis would lose to the GOP chairman of Sheridan County, however, at election time, Lumis blew him out of the water by a nearly 50-point margin.

Nonetheless, Hageman is feeling encouraged by the results of the latest poll.

“I think it’s a good sign. It’s not an endorsement, but these are the county activists,” she said after the poll, adding, “There will be lots of polls over the next eight months [before the August primary], and they will all show different things.”

Hageman, however, should be feeling pretty confident. Cheney is despised among conservatives across the country and especially in Wyoming.

The state GOP has already censured Cheney and stripped her of party recognition so the results of the straw poll are definitely not shocking.

On the anniversary of the Jan. 6 debacle, Cheney slammed members of the state GOP calling them “quite radical.”

She noted that there “are people in the state party apparatus of my home state who are quite radical. And some of those same people include people who were here on Jan. 6th, include a party chair who has toyed with the idea of secession.”

The Wyoming GOP shot back and said in a response, “If Ms. Cheney wants to continue to pick a fight with the majority of Wyoming Republicans and accuse the vast majority of being deplorables and radicals, then of course she can continue that foolish ploy.”

“She can also continue to engage in the politics of personal destruction with other Republicans – which is her specialty and only real qualification to sit on the farcical January 6th Commission — but that is unlikely to improve her position in the polls.”

Outside of the 74 members of the Wyoming state central committee, the 196,179 registered Republican voters who will be deciding Cheney’s fate in August aren’t too happy with her either.

While there hasn’t been much in the way of polling thus far, it isn’t looking good for the RINO.

According to the Washington Examiner, Hageman was up by 20 points in a December poll, 38 percent to 18 percent. While that poll had a large number of undecideds, a poll taken in July found only 23 percent of potential GOP primary voters said they would vote for Cheney against 77 percent who wouldn’t.

Then there’s the fact that President Trump enjoys massive support in Wyoming. In the 2020 election he received 70.4% of the vote versus Joe Biden’s 26.7%. Cheney and Trump are like oil and water. Surely those who support the former president are not keen on Cheney.

Cheney has really shot herself in the foot by being completely and totally tone deaf to her constituents. She actually believes that she is courageously working to save the Republican Party from itself but the reality is Americans have been woken up and we aren’t going back to the days of RINOs like Paul Ryan, John McCain and John Boehner leading the party.

The GOP is moving on with or without Cheney and it looks like Cheney is making sure it’s without.
